Here's what's happening at William Chris VineyardsSpring is here and we are enjoying a preview of the warmer days ahead and an incredible show of Hill Country flowers (many say the best in years). As the season shifts from winter into spring and the blooms grow, we've seen a ton of growth happening here at William Chris Vineyards.
If you're curious to see for yourself be sure you plan your tasting and tour in advance because we've reintroduced barrel tastings and VIP experiences with our resident sommelier, D Thompson. As a tasting room host, I recommend you pick up a snack and a bottle if you are unable to get in at your preferred reservation time, post up outside under the shade trees and enjoy the views with glass or bottles from the outside bar. It's heavenly.
What about the first wine releases for 2019?
The first round of releases for 2019 are getting rolled out this month. You'll have to visit our tasting room to get your hands on these bottles though - or become a member of the Hye Society wine club.
The first 2019 releases include:
- 2017 Mourvèdre, La Pradera Vineyards, Texas High Plains
- 2017 Sangiovese, Narra Vineyards, Texas High Plains
- 2016 Sangiovese, Klenk Family Vineyards, Texas Hill Country
- 2016 Tempranillo, Parr Vineyards, Texas Hill Country
What's happening in the winery?
Mary Ruth, our flagship white blend, was bottled in early February and will soon be released. It is a refreshingly new blend consisting of the same varietals but with different percentages of each; Malvasia Bianca, Blanc du Bois and Muscat Blanc.
Get ready to #DrinkTexasPink
Our 2018 Texas High Plains Rosé is packed up and headed for retail shelves near you. Look for it to hit shelves in H-E-B, Whole Foods Market, Central Market, Twin Liquors, and a number of restaurants across the country.
After selling out of our 2017 vintage before the end of the year, we are excited to announce that the much anticipated release of our 2018 Pétillant Naturel happens this month too. Look for it to hit retail shelves along side your favorites, Skeleton Key Red and Mary Ruth.
Bigger and Better Things
How about something even more exciting? The brand new Hye Society wine club tasting room is moving along with an anticipated grand opening in August.
Once finished, it will provide our guests with private event space, elevated tasting experiences, and a full culinary program and food pairings. It will also be the new home for our administrative offices.
