Who we are

Prior to their partnership, both Bill and Chris had numerous years of experience growing grapes in Texas. Since the two established the William Chris Vineyards brand, a beautiful story continues to be written. Not only driven by the passion of our founders but also the community they continue to build as the business grows. Our vineyard partners, winemakers, and team members make Bill and Chris's vision a reality.

Why the 2018 Artist Blend is special

Posted by WCV Team on May 14, 2020

As most of you know the 2019 Artist Blend winner was announced in December,  and the winner was Cynthia Thompson.

Cynthia's ultimate goal when creating her pieces is to make people feel something.  She created a beautiful piece called "Sleeping Oak" for our Artist Blend, and we wanted to share the story behind the piece.

This pen & watercolor painting, “Sleeping Oak” was inspired after reading about the history of William Chris Vineyards. Cynthia went and visited the Live Oaks that had inspired Bill and Chris to choose the property in Hye to begin their amazing joint venture. That is where she found the subject of this painting; a sleeping oak.

Every year since 2012 we have hosted an Artist Blend contest where artists all over the state of Texas can showcase their work in front of hundreds of people at our Member Release Parties.

Members and guests' can then vote on their favorite art piece, and then it is in the running to be on the upcoming vintage of the Artist Blend wine.

This 2018 Artist Blend has spent 19 months in 40% new french oak barrels, and you can age it all the way to 2028. With 39% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 24% Syrah, and 7% Tannat all from Texas hill country, it is truly an amazing wine.
Unfortunately, there isn't enough of this wine left for individual sale, but for those that are in our Hye Society received this wine in their April Release. It is also in the May 16th Virtual Tasting that you can still pick it up curbside!

“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” - James Allen
